Moscow, Russia – The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the World Economic Forum in Davos as an “international theater of the absurd.” This is a striking attack reflecting the escalating Russian criticism of Western platforms that discuss global economic and political issues.

The spokesperson stated that the forum has become an arena for speeches and lofty slogans detached from the realities of people’s lives. She also asserted that the proposed solutions fail to address the genuine crises plaguing the world. She noted that this is exacerbated by the widening gap of inequality and the worsening economic and energy crises.

She added that Davos has transformed, in her words, into a platform for exchanging accusations and promoting unilateral perspectives, rather than a forum for balanced dialogue and the formulation of equitable solutions. The spokesperson emphasized that developing countries and those harmed by Western policies find no real voice within the forum.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statements have provoked widespread reactions in political and media circles. Observers consider them an extension of the tension between Moscow and Western capitals. Others view them as a political message aimed at delegitimizing international platforms led by major powers. This attack comes at a time when the Davos Forum is witnessing broad participation from world leaders and decision-makers. It also occurs amidst growing debate about the forum’s effectiveness and its actual ability to address the successive global crises.
