Aden, Yemen – Dr. Khaled Al-Shumairi, head of the Center for Political Studies, commented on the failed assassination attempt targeting the commander of the Second Brigade of the Giants Forces, Sheikh Hamdi Shukri Al-Subaihi, in Aden today. He asserted that the resurgence of bombings and assassinations in southern Yemen is linked to recent shifts in the military and political landscape.
In a notable statement, Al-Shumairi pointed out that the return of terrorist operations coincided with the withdrawal of Emirati forces from Yemen. He added, “The bombings and assassinations began to return to Aden and southern Yemen after the UAE’s departure. We all know who is behind these bombings, who is supporting them, and who is secretly backing extremist Islamist groups.”
Al-Shumairi revealed his perspective on the timing of the assassination of Commander Hamdi Shukri. He pointed to the “Special Committee’s” attempt to conceal its ties to terrorist groups.
He added, “When the Special Committee realized we were about to expose its relationship with terrorist groups and reveal the truth to the world, they planted a bomb in Hamdi Shukri’s convoy today, after he announced his joining the Jeddah Alliance with Riyadh, in order to frame the UAE.”
The head of the Center for Political Studies affirmed that the public is well aware of the difference in the security situation. He emphasized that the UAE waged a genuine war against extremist groups.
He continued, “People are not fools. The UAE fought terrorist and extremist groups, and we no longer see these groups’ presence or signs of bombings, except now after their withdrawal from Yemen.”
