Tehran, Iran – In a new escalation of tensions between Tehran and Western capitals, the Islamic Republic has directly accused ambassadors of major European countries of playing a leading role in the ongoing protests in the country, which Iranian officials have described as “chaos”.
Parliamentary accusations against Berlin, London and Paris
Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesman for the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, stated that the ambassadors of Germany, Britain, and France were directly involved in leading the on-the-ground protests. These statements come as authorities attempt to portray the Iranian national uprising as a “foreign conspiracy,” at a time when clashes between protesters and security forces are escalating.
European pressure and reports of a “bloody massacre”
Concurrently with this accusation, international pressure on Tehran is mounting, with several European countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, and Portugal, summoning Iranian ambassadors to protest the violent crackdown. In a shocking development, human rights reports and information received by Iran International revealed an unprecedented death toll of at least 12,000 people in what has been described as the largest massacre in modern Iranian history. The killings were concentrated primarily on the nights of Thursday and Friday, January 8 and 9, and the information points to the direct involvement of the Revolutionary Guard and Basij forces.
Top orders for “live fire”
Sources confirmed that this massacre was carried out on the personal orders of Ali Khamenei, with the explicit approval of the heads of the three branches of government, and with official authorization from the Supreme National Security Council to use live ammunition against civilians. These developments present the European Union with a legal and moral challenge, amid calls for unprecedented and severe sanctions in response to the widespread human rights violations.
