Washington, DC – Conservative American journalist and political analyst Mark Levine, a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s advisory council, stated that President Donald Trump is nearing a decisive military decision. This comes amid escalating tensions with Iran and the ongoing crackdown on protests within the country.
In a blog post on the X platform, Levine explained that he is “absolutely convinced” Trump will act militarily to fulfill his recent threats. He asserted that the continued existence of the Iranian regime represents “the greatest missed opportunity in history to combat terrorism.”
He added, “Trump understands that the survival of this regime represents a historic missed opportunity to confront terrorism. With what the brave people of Iran are facing, diplomacy has become nothing but empty words.”
These statements coincide with White House assurances that “all options are on the table.” This suggests a possible response to what Washington describes as Tehran crossing red lines. This is particularly concerning regarding the suppression of protesters.
Congress moves to support Iranian protests
In a related development, Iranian-American Congresswoman Yasmin Ansari revealed legislative moves aimed at breaking what she described as the Iranian regime’s digital blackout.
Ansari accused Tehran of committing “widespread crimes” against its citizens. She indicated that the communications blackout is part of an effort to conceal these violations from the world. And she called on the US administration to take immediate action. This includes providing direct satellite internet access for mobile phones within Iran. She also suggested using funds allocated in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to expand internet freedom. Moreover, these funds could provide digital support to protesters.
Observers believe these developments reflect a significant escalation in US rhetoric and positions toward Iran. This fuels speculation that Washington may shift from political and economic pressure to more assertive options. These options could include military action if tensions persist without de-escalation.
