Rabat, Morocco – The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior has proposed amendments to certain legal texts related to elections. These amendments aim to enhance transparency and ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The Ministry also seeks to protect citizens’ freedom of expression and opinion.
The proposal aims to reduce the risks associated with electoral manipulation or disinformation campaigns. This is achieved by establishing mechanisms to monitor and address violations. Furthermore, it seeks to strengthen the role of independent observers and improve the rules for announcing results. This ensures greater credibility for the electoral process.
The ministry affirmed that any measures implemented will be balanced. This will not affect the freedom of the press or citizens to express their opinions and political stances, reflecting the government’s commitment to achieving a balance between good governance and the protection of civil rights.
Morocco is witnessing growing interest from civil society in monitoring the upcoming elections. This focus on transparency and good governance aims to strengthen citizens’ trust in institutions.
