CAIRO, Egypt – CBS News revealed on Saturday intelligence information indicating that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly approved drone attacks. These targeted two ships within the “Global Sumud Flotilla” heading to the Gaza Strip last September.
According to the report, on September 8 and 9, Israeli forces carried out attacks using drones. These were launched from an Israeli submarine. The drones dropped incendiary materials on boats docked in the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, causing a massive fire.
On September 10, the Global Sumud Flotilla announced that one of its vessels, the British-flagged Alma, had been attacked again by a drone. This occurred in the same port, confirming that it was the second attack in just two days. The statement explained that the ship sustained damage to its upper deck as a result of the fire. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This development underscores the growing tension surrounding the “Sumud Flotilla.” It aims to break the blockade on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians. This occurs amid growing international condemnation of Israeli military operations outside its borders.
