Cairo, Egypt – In a new episode of the war of sarcastic statements between Moscow and Washington, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev launched a scathing attack on former US President Donald Trump. This was after Trump spoke about sending US nuclear submarines to Russia’s coast as a precautionary measure.
Medvedev wrote on his Max channel, sarcastically:
“Trump is back in his B-movie role, talking about submarines he’s hidden well off Russia’s shores. It’s as if we’re watching an American TV series about nuclear retaliation over posts on the X platform!”
He added, “As the legendary Soviet detective series says: It’s hard to find a black cat in a dark room, especially if there isn’t one.”
For his part, Trump said he had already ordered the transfer of two nuclear submarines near Russia. He described this as a “purely precautionary measure.” He stressed, “No one can be allowed to take the word ‘nuclear’ lightly.”
This exchange of words is an extension of the escalating nuclear dispute between Moscow and Washington, which began last August. The Kremlin asserted that US nuclear submarines “remain on constant combat alert, regardless of politicians’ statements.”
Remarkably, Trump admitted on his Truth Social platform that his decision came in response to what he described as “provocative statements” from Medvedev. Medvedev quickly turned them into a political satire.
