Kiev, Ukraine – The Ukrainian army confirmed the implementation of military strikes targeting vital sites inside Russia, including important oil and industrial facilities.
The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement on Telegram that “Ukrainian defense forces carried out precise strikes against confirmed Russian targets participating in supporting the armed aggression against our country,” and explained that the strikes came “in response to the recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, which resulted in civilian deaths and injuries,” according to the Kiev Post.
The Ukrainian strikes included two oil refineries in Ryazan and Novokubyshevsk, as well as a fuel and oil storage facility in the Voronezh region, as well as the “Electropripur” defense plant in Penza, which produces encrypted communications equipment and advanced military systems.
The statement referred to “the outbreak of fires and explosions in the targeted sites”, stressing that a full assessment of the damage is still under verification.
The operation was carried out in coordination between marching forces, special operations forces, the Ukrainian Security Service, and the Military Intelligence Directorate.
The General Staff stressed that “Ukraine will continue to target the infrastructure supporting the Russian army until the aggression stops.”
In parallel, Ukrainian media reports reported explosions in several Russian regions, including Lipetsk, Ryazan, Taganrog, Samara, Voronezh, and the Crimean Peninsula, where the Crimean Bridge was temporarily closed after explosions sounded in Feodosia.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that it shot down or intercepted 112 Ukrainian drones during the night.
It is noteworthy that Russia intensified its air attacks on Ukraine last July, launching more than 6,000 long-range drones, in addition to about 200 missiles, which resulted in a significant increase in the number of civilian casualties, according to the United Nations.
