Kuwait – The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait issued statement number 17 today, revealing that one of its vital facilities was subjected to a direct military attack at dawn, causing significant material damage. This occurred amidst a full mobilization of technical and security personnel.
Details of the attack and damage
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, stated that early this morning, Friday, one of the power and water desalination plants was attacked by the “heinous Iranian aggression” against the State of Kuwait. Engineer Hayat also confirmed that the attack resulted in material damage to some of the plant’s components, without disclosing the extent of any casualties at the time of the statement’s release.
Technical and security response
The statement explained that technical and emergency teams immediately began their work on the ground. This was done in accordance with pre-approved emergency plans for dealing with such exceptional incidents. It added that the technical and emergency teams are working to ensure the continued efficient operation of the station and to prevent any service interruptions. This is being done in full coordination with security and relevant authorities to secure the affected sites and protect surrounding facilities.
