  • Supporting the Army and Expanding State Authority
  • Bilateral Relations with Syria and Legal Agreements

Beirut, Lebanon — Tarek Mitri Lebanon restoring sovereignty and civil peace remains the central objective for the government. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Lebanon must negotiate under its own authority. Furthermore, he noted that external foreign interventions infringe upon national independence. Recovery plans are moving forward in coordination with strengthening the armed forces.

Supporting the Army and Expanding State Authority

Mitri confirmed the Lebanese Army readiness to take control of Ali Al-Taher height. He stated that military forces fully understand their constitutional responsibilities. Additionally, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited southern regions to encourage security personnel. Officials anticipate increased international assistance for the army in upcoming phases.

Several partner nations expressed willingness to support troops entering trial zones. These security arrangements align with Tarek Mitri Lebanon restoring sovereignty initiatives across border areas. However, Israeli positions toward UNIFIL forces in the South remain inflexible.

Lebanon maintains that international observers must remain present in southern territories. Continuous international monitoring protects local stability and security protocols. Meanwhile, Israeli negotiations regarding the framework agreement lack demonstrated goodwill. Mitri noted that broad regional peace agreements benefit Lebanese national interests.

Bilateral Relations with Syria and Legal Agreements

Regarding Syrian relations, Mitri affirmed Lebanon commitment to establishing normal diplomatic ties. Future cooperation relies on mutual respect and sovereign equality between both nations. The judicial agreement with Damascus will accelerate releasing eligible detainees.

He clarified that extraditing certain Syrian officers remains a strictly judicial decision. Executive political bodies do not interfere with court rulings. Furthermore, Lebanon exercises caution regarding prisoners facing potential capital punishment in Syria. This legal reservation reflects the domestic abolition of the death penalty.

Ultimately, Tarek Mitri Lebanon restoring sovereignty strategies emphasize institutional strength and rule of law. National priorities center on military empowerment and regional diplomatic engagement. Government bodies continue addressing complex security, judicial, and political issues concurrently.
