Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced that the air defense forces were able to intercept and destroy a number of drones that attempted to target oil facilities inside the Kingdom,
confirming the success of the defensive operation without any damage to the facilities or any human casualties.
Maintaining the security of citizens and residents
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense explained that the drones were launched from Iraqi territory,
accusing Iranian-backed militias of being behind the attack.
He noted that the armed forces dealt with the threat swiftly and efficiently,
ensuring the protection of vital installations and maintaining the security of citizens and residents.
The Ministry affirmed that the Kingdom reserves its full right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory and national assets,
and to deter any aggression targeting its security or stability, in accordance with international laws and norms.
Saudi Arabia continues to raise its readiness levels
She added that protecting vital infrastructure is a top priority,
and that the Saudi armed forces continue to enhance their readiness to deal with any potential threats,
given the evolving security situation in the region.
This attack comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region.
The Kingdom has called on Iraqi authorities to take measures to prevent the use of
their territory to launch attacks targeting neighboring countries.
This comes amidst widespread Arab and regional condemnation of the attempted attack on Saudi oil facilities
and expressions of full solidarity with the Kingdom in protecting its security and sovereignty.
