Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the US airstrikes and missile attacks targeting six Iranian cities on July 8 and 9 resulted in 17 deaths and 115 injuries.
This is the latest official toll of casualties from the attacks, amid ongoing military
and political tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Casualty figures and surgical operations
The Iranian Ministry of Health, as reported by the Tasnim news agency,
stated that the US airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 17 Iranian citizens,
including a woman, and injured 115 others.
The ministry added that medical teams performed 14 surgeries on the injured.
Meanwhile, 102 people were discharged from hospitals after receiving treatment and recovering.
However, a number of the wounded are still receiving medical care.
The raids came after attacks in the Strait of Hormuz
The US airstrikes came after Washington accused Iran of targeting oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
As a result, US forces launched attacks on targets inside Iran last Wednesday and Thursday,
in a military escalation between the two countries.
These recent developments have raised international concerns about a wider confrontation
and its impact on maritime security and global energy supplies, particularly in the Gulf region.
Trump casts doubt on the future of negotiations
In a related development, US President Donald Trump announced the end of the ceasefire with Iran,
declaring the agreement no longer valid. He stated that dealing with Tehran had become “a waste of time.”
Despite this, Trump indicated that US representatives might continue negotiations with the Iranian side.
However, he expressed skepticism about the possibility of achieving tangible results,
given the ongoing military escalation and exchange of accusations between the two sides.
