Mogadishu, Somalia – As part of its intensified efforts to pursue outlaw cells, Somali security authorities announced today, Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The seizure of massive quantities of weapons and ammunition. The operation was carried out during a precise raid executed by elite forces inside a vital hotel in the heart of the capital, Mogadishu. This proactive strike comes at a time when the government is seeking to consolidate security in Somalia and face increasing challenges.

On the other hand, security services explained that the operation was not random. It was the fruit of accurate intelligence and intensive surveillance of the location. Once the information was confirmed, specialized forces moved, surrounded the site, and the search resulted in finding an arsenal of light and medium weapons. They were immediately seized and transferred to security headquarters to begin forensic examination.

Extensive Investigations to Uncover Perpetrators

In a related context, Somali authorities confirmed that investigations have already begun at an intensive pace. The goal is to uncover the source of these weapons and the parties behind storing them. Security teams are also seeking to determine if this arsenal is linked to criminal activities. Or if it was intended to execute security threats targeting the capital or other parts of the country.

Furthermore, security officials indicated that the operation falls within a wide-scale national campaign. This campaign aims to track illegal weapons and dry up the sources of threats. Officials affirmed that specialized agencies are executing a series of proactive periodic operations. This is to ensure the protection of citizens and maintain security in Somalia in general.

Tightened Security Measures in the Capital

On another note, the Somali government continues to strengthen its security grip. Mogadishu is witnessing an intensive deployment of military and intelligence forces. These measures come in cooperation with all specialized units. The government affirms that it will not tolerate any party trying to tamper with the stability of the homeland.

In conclusion, this discovery reflects the vigilance of Somali security services. The battle against security threats requires continuity in field work. Protecting major cities remains a strategic priority. To consolidate the foundations of security in Somalia, and prevent any attempts to destabilize stability across the country.
