Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani affirmed, in a speech before the United Nations, that the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz represents a collective responsibility that cannot be overlooked, stressing the importance of protecting this vital corridor to ensure the stability of global trade and energy, within the framework of Bahrain’s stated positions regarding regional security.
Emphasis on the Security of International Navigation
The Minister stressed that the security of the Strait of Hormuz is a fundamental element in the stability of global markets, calling for broad international cooperation to ensure freedom of navigation and prevent any threats that could affect supply and energy chains. He pointed out that this strategic maritime corridor cannot tolerate any escalation or disruption.
Call to Address Regional Files
The Bahraini Foreign Minister explained that achieving peace in the region requires collective efforts to address several regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear program, in addition to what he described as Tehran-backed militias, considering that these files represent essential elements in any path toward stability.
Emphasis on Diplomatic Solutions
Al Zayani stressed that regional stability will only be achieved through dialogue, adherence to international law, and respect for state sovereignty, calling for intensified diplomatic efforts to ease existing tensions. He also affirmed his country’s continued support for initiatives aimed at enhancing security and peace in the region.
