Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) have imposed unprecedentedly strict security measures around a border crossing leading to Saudi Arabia. This comes as part of efforts to enhance security control and raise the level of readiness along the border during the current period.
The measures include intensifying checkpoints and security patrols, as well as reinforcing the military presence in areas near the crossing. In addition, extensive surveillance operations and field deployments have been carried out to secure the border and prevent any infiltrations or illegal activities.
Iraqi security sources confirmed that these steps are part of a plan aimed at bolstering security and addressing challenges related to smuggling operations and the movements of armed groups, particularly in the vast desert regions of western Iraq.
Reports also indicated that Iraqi security forces have increased coordination among units deployed along the borders. Furthermore, they have employed advanced surveillance methods to monitor movements in border areas and enhance the speed of response to any security emergency.
The security situation along Iraq’s borders has recently received increased attention from Iraqi authorities. This comes amidst Baghdad’s efforts to secure border crossings and strengthen internal stability, coinciding with regional tensions and escalating security developments in the region.
