Tel Aviv, Israel – In remarks reflecting the extent of Israeli intelligence penetration in the region, Mossad chief David Barnea praised the operations, describing them as “pioneering” and “exceptional.” He also confirmed that the spy agency carried out these operations during the past year as part of its ongoing confrontation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Field coordination and strategic penetration
During a ceremony held at Mossad headquarters on Monday, details of which were released on Tuesday, Barnea revealed the close cooperation between the agency and the military establishment, stating: “In the campaigns against Iran and Hezbollah, we worked side-by-side with the IDF, in both defensive and offensive operations.”
He emphasized that this integration led to unprecedented results on the ground. Furthermore, he noted that these results altered the balance of power in the ongoing “shadow war” between the two sides.
The head of Mossad claimed, according to Agence France-Presse, that the agency had succeeded in obtaining intelligence he described as being drawn “from the very heart of the enemy’s most closely guarded secrets.” He emphasized that this information encompassed both strategic and tactical aspects. He added that it enabled the Israeli leadership to preempt major threats before they materialized.
Operational capabilities in “target countries”
Parnia did not merely point to intelligence successes, but also highlighted what he described as the emergence of “new and groundbreaking operational capabilities” that had already been implemented within the territories of targeted countries.
He explained that these capabilities had proven effective in neutralizing sensitive targets. He also noted that they had helped penetrate deep into the enemy’s clandestine sectors, thus giving an innovative offensive dimension to Mossad’s activities abroad.
A message of deterrence and superiority
Barnea’s remarks come at a time of heightened military and diplomatic tensions in the Middle East, serving as a clear message of deterrence to regional adversaries. Observers believe that the public praise of these “pioneering operations” is intended to boost morale within the Israeli security establishment. Furthermore, it underscores the Mossad’s ability to penetrate even the most secretive strongholds in Tehran and Beirut, thus reinforcing Israel’s strategic depth in the face of the Iranian axis.
Barnea concluded by emphasizing that Mossad will continue to develop its technological and human resources to ensure its continued superiority. He also asserted that “the era of traditional operations is over; we are now in the age of comprehensive penetration.”
