Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm and principled stance against all unjustified attacks targeting Gulf Arab states in recent times,
emphasizing that Cairo stands firmly with its Arab brothers in confronting any threats to their stability.
President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting Tuesday in Cairo with Finnish President Alexander Stubb,
where he explained that the security of the Gulf region is a fundamental and non-negotiable pillar,
as it is an integral and inseparable part of Egypt’s national security system.
He called for respect for the sovereignty of Arab states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
International coordination to support the truce
The Egyptian-Finnish meeting focused intensely on the need for continued international coordination to ensure security
and stability in the Middle East. President El-Sisi welcomed the current truce in the region,
considering it a crucial opportunity that must be seized to contain the escalating tensions.
Both sides emphasized the importance of supporting diplomatic channels as the only alternative to military solutions,
in order to spare the region’s people the horrors of war.
They noted that the current phase requires concerted international efforts
to reduce regional tensions and prevent the conflict from spreading further.
Developments in the Palestinian issue
On the Palestinian issue, the two presidents stressed the paramount importance of an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip,
declaring their categorical rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands or undermine the unity of Palestinian territory.
The talks also addressed the crises in Lebanon, Libya, and Sudan,
with President Sisi reiterating Egypt’s firm position calling for the preservation
of national state institutions, support for their unity and sovereignty,
and the prevention of foreign interference that fuels conflicts and obstructs political solutions.
Strengthening the bilateral partnership
Regarding bilateral relations, Sisi and Støb discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Cairo and Helsinki in the political, economic,
and trade spheres, and explored promising investment opportunities in vital sectors of interest to both countries.
The two leaders affirmed their aspiration to open new horizons for trade exchange, capitalizing on the stability
and attractive investment climate in Egypt, as well as exchanging views on international issues of common concern,
thereby strengthening the two countries’ role as key players in promoting global peace.
