Beirut, Lebanon – The Lebanese Army announced the deaths of four of its soldiers in Israeli attacks targeting various parts of the country on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
In an official statement, the Army Command – Directorate of Orientation mourned the loss of four soldiers targeted in Sidon, the Bekaa Valley, and Hermel. The statement also affirmed the institution’s continued commitment to making sacrifices to preserve civil peace and national sovereignty.
Who are the 4 soldiers?
The Lebanese Army casualties included First Sergeant Hussein Khaled Yassin, from the town of Kfour (Nabatieh), born in 1993, and in the Bekaa Valley, the town of Shamshtar mourned the loss of Private First Class Mohammad Bassam Shheitli (born in 1996).

Implications of targeting and its timing
This painful loss for the Lebanese army comes amid an unprecedented military escalation. Israeli airstrikes have made no distinction between civilians and military personnel, targeting deep within Lebanese territory from the south to the far reaches of the Bekaa Valley and Hermel.
