Nahariya – Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said on Sunday that the number of Hezbollah fatalities in southern Lebanon has reached 1,000 so far. He expects the losses to continue rising during the ongoing military operations.

Objectives of Israeli Operations

Zamir confirmed that disarming Hezbollah has been an objective since before the current campaign. He noted that the operations aim to protect Nahariya and the northern towns and ensure the security of their residents in the long term. Moreover, he added that the Israeli army continues to operate methodically to suppress fire threats and protect civilians across various Lebanese regions.

Meeting with Local Leadership

The Chief of Staff held a meeting with the mayor of Nahariya and members of the local emergency response team in Shtula. During the meeting, he praised the resilience of civilians and the role of local leaders in maintaining security and stability during the military operations.

Impact of Operations on Hezbollah and Iran

Zamir pointed out that military achievements against Iran directly affect Hezbollah. He stressed that Israeli forces are operating on two parallel fronts to enhance national security and reduce regional threats. In addition, they focus on leveraging any opportunity to change the security reality in northern Israel.

Commitment to Civilian Protection and Long-Term Strategy

The Chief of Staff emphasized that the return of residents to their areas is contingent on achieving disarmament south of the Litani River. He confirmed that the army continues to use all available capabilities to ensure security and protect civilians. At the same time, there is a focus on long-term strategies to enhance stability in the region.
