Moscow, Russia – The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Moscow’s negotiating position on the Ukrainian crisis remains unchanged. This is a clear message reflecting the Kremlin’s adherence to its principles, despite increasing Western pressure and repeated calls to resume the political settlement process.

In official statements, the Russian Foreign Ministry explained that any future negotiations must take into account the “new reality on the ground.” This refers to the areas controlled by Russian forces. The ministry also asserted that ignoring these facts will not lead to tangible results.

This stance comes at a time of intensified international efforts to revive the diplomatic track, amidst European and American pressure on Moscow to make concessions. This is particularly relevant given the ongoing military operations and their humanitarian and economic repercussions.

Observers believe that Russia’s adherence to its position reflects a negotiating strategy based on buying time and consolidating its gains on the ground. In contrast, Kyiv and its allies are seeking to impose different conditions at the negotiating table.

Analysts also point out that the gap between the two sides remains wide. Therefore, the chances of reaching a settlement in the near future are limited, given the conflicting visions on fundamental issues, most notably borders, sovereignty, and security guarantees.

This statement confirms that the Ukrainian crisis is still far from being resolved. Furthermore, the negotiation process will remain contingent on the balance of power on the ground and international pressure, in a scenario open to further complications in the coming period.
