Washington, DC – In a dramatic military and political development, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States had carried out precision strikes that completely destroyed strategic military targets on Iran’s Kharg Island. He also asserted that Tehran’s military capabilities had been virtually crippled as a result of the recent operations.
Neutralizing the military and protecting the oil (temporarily)
Reuters and AFP quoted Trump as saying he made a “tactical” decision to target only military objectives. He indicated that he preferred, at this stage, not to destroy the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island, a vital artery for Iranian crude exports. However, this oil “exemption” came with an explicit threat.
The US president continued, saying, “If Iran or any other party does anything to interfere with the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz,
I will immediately reconsider this decision,” implying that oil facilities would be the next target in the event of any escalation affecting international maritime security.
Paralysis in defenses air and sea
Trump painted a grim picture of the military situation inside Iran, asserting that US and Israeli forces had virtually destroyed the Iranian navy and air force.
“It’s all over,” he declared. The US president indicated that most of Iran’s conventional military capabilities had been wiped out.
He further explained that Tehran no longer possessed effective radars or air defense systems capable of countering attacks. “Iran has been devastated,” he stated.
“Their country is in very bad shape, and everything is falling apart.”
“Common goals” with Israel
Regarding coordination with Tel Aviv, Trump noted that the goals of the United States and Israel in this war “may not be very different.”
He also stressed that military operations would continue as long as necessary to achieve regional security and stability.
He added confidently, “Iran has no ability to defend any target we choose to attack, and they can’t do anything about it.”
The end of nuclear ambition
Trump concluded his remarks by reaffirming Washington’s new security doctrine toward Tehran.
He reiterated his firm pledge that Iran would never possess a nuclear weapon.
He also asserted that it would never again have the capability to threaten the United States, the Middle East, or global peace.
These statements come as the world awaits the response of the leadership in Tehran,
amid reports of widespread collapses in the Islamic Republic’s defense and logistical systems.
