Kuwait – Kuwait announced that its armed forces had intercepted a wave of hostile aerial targets that penetrated the country’s airspace during the past 24 hours, as air defense systems were able to detect 8 hostile drones and deal with 7 of them and destroy them, while one drone fell outside the threat area.
Detecting and shooting down drones
Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Saud Al-Atwan explained during a media briefing on security developments that air defense systems detected hostile targets immediately upon their entry into Kuwaiti airspace and engaged them according to established military procedures.
He added that the monitoring and engagement of the drones were conducted within the framework of the integrated air defense system designed to protect Kuwaiti airspace, emphasizing the armed forces’ readiness to address any potential threats.
The role of the National Guard in operations
Al-Atwan noted that the National Guard’s task force participated in the monitoring and interception operations, successfully detecting and downing eight drones in the south of the country. This was achieved through coordination and integration among the various military and security agencies in Kuwait.
He emphasized that this coordination between the armed forces and the National Guard strengthens the country’s defense capabilities and ensures a rapid response to any aerial threats that may target Kuwaiti airspace.
Handling reports and explosives
In a related context, the military spokesperson explained that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team of the Land Forces Engineering Corps has responded to 172 reports since the start of operations. Sites were inspected and suspicious objects were disposed of according to established technical procedures.
He noted that specialized teams are continuing their field work to deal with any remnants or hazardous objects that may result from airstrikes, in order to ensure the safety of citizens and residents and maintain security and stability in the country.
