Erbil, Iraq – The Iranian Kurdish opposition party Komala, led by Abdullah Mohtadi, announced the death of one of its members in an attack by Iranian suicide drones targeting one of the party’s camps in Iraqi Kurdistan in the early hours of Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Komala confirmed that the deceased member was Omid Feysi, known within the party
by his nom de guerre “Omid Ravansar,” a member of the Komala Peshmerga forces.
The attack also injured another member, whose condition the party described as stable and not a cause for concern.
Escalating series of Iranian attacks
This incident marks the third of its kind in a series of escalating Iranian attacks targeting Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in northern Iraq for years.
The death toll has now reached three: two from the Komala Party and one from the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK).
These attacks are intensifying within the broader context of the regional conflict that erupted
after the United States and Israel launched their war against Iran on the morning of February 28th.
Tehran has since expanded the conflict to include Iraqi Kurdistan, using drones and missiles to target Iranian Kurdish opposition factions that have been based there for many years.
