Beirut, Lebanon – Medical and official sources in Lebanon reported that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli escalation has risen to 394 in just six days. This comes amid continued airstrikes and shelling of several areas within Lebanese territory.
Reports indicated that the Israeli strikes targeted various areas in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, as well as the outskirts of Beirut’s southern suburbs. The attacks resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries. In addition, widespread damage to homes and infrastructure was reported.
Lebanese officials stated that rescue and ambulance teams are continuing search and rescue operations under the rubble in several bombed locations. There are fears that the death toll will rise further in the coming hours.
This escalation comes amid rising tensions on the Lebanese-Israeli border. The two sides have exchanged fire and attacks in recent days, leading to a wider conflict and increased casualties and material losses.
Observers believe that the continued exchange of fire threatens to open a broader front in the region, especially as these developments coincide with escalating tensions between Iran and Israel. Therefore, there are fears of a wider regional confrontation.
International and humanitarian organizations have called for an immediate halt to the escalation. They warned of a deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Lebanon if the military operations continue at this level in the coming period.
