Manama, Bahrain – Bahraini authorities announced that a small fire that broke out in one of the units of the Bapco Energy refinery has been contained. This comes after an Iranian missile attack targeted the kingdom’s territory amid escalating military tensions in the region.

Bahrain’s National Communication Centre confirmed that emergency teams were able to control and completely extinguish the fire in record time. It also indicated that the incident resulted in no injuries.

The center explained that the fire broke out in one of the operational units within the refinery as a result of the missile attack. Fire and emergency teams responded immediately to the incident.

It added that the precautionary measures implemented at the oil facilities helped limit the spread of the fire. These measures also prevented further damage to the refinery.

It noted that the relevant authorities activated the approved emergency plans for dealing with such incidents, which contributed to bringing the situation under control quickly.

Operations continue at the refinery

Authorities confirmed that operations at the Bapco Energies refinery continued normally despite the incident. They also indicated that refinery production and energy supplies were unaffected.

The center added that teams at the facility continued performing their duties according to standard operating procedures after the fire was brought under control. Furthermore, additional measures were taken to ensure the safety of personnel and facilities.

It also emphasized that the Kingdom’s critical infrastructure is operating efficiently. It clarified that oil supplies were not disrupted.

Comprehensive damage assessment

The National Communication Center indicated that the relevant authorities have begun a comprehensive assessment of the damage inflicted on the refinery as a result of the attack.

It explained that specialized technical teams are currently examining the site of the incident and determining the extent of any technical losses. This is in preparation for taking the necessary measures to address any consequences of the incident.

This incident comes amidst escalating military tensions in the region. Furthermore, a number of vital installations in the Gulf states have been subjected to threats and missile attacks in recent days.
