Dubai, UAE – Flight tracking data shows that approximately 24% of scheduled flights in the Middle East have been canceled or diverted following the closure of airspace by several countries due to the military escalation related to the Iran-Iraq War.
Reports from Flightradar24, a company specializing in tracking air traffic, indicate a sharp decline in air traffic over the past few hours. Dozens of aircraft have been rerouted to avoid airspace near conflict zones.
The military developments have led to temporary restrictions on civil aviation in several countries. Major airlines have also issued alerts to passengers regarding potential delays or cancellations, urging them to stay updated.
Aviation experts believe that the continued closure of airspace will directly impact supply chains and air cargo traffic, in addition to increasing operating costs due to longer flight routes.
This comes amid growing concerns about the escalation of the conflict. Furthermore, it presents the region’s aviation sector with a significant challenge given the increasing security risks and the volatile regional landscape.
