Tehran, Iran – An informed official told Reuters that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has been moved to a “safe location” outside the Iranian capital, Tehran, under heavy guard, amid an unprecedented escalation of military tensions.
The move is seen as a precautionary measure to protect the top of the Iranian leadership. This comes as the scope of the strikes widens.
Trump’s speech: It’s time for your freedom
In conjunction with the developments on the ground, US President Donald Trump addressed the Iranian people in a televised speech. He urged them to take shelter and stay in their homes, warning of the perilous security situation.
Trump said, “It’s time for your freedom. Take shelter and stay in your homes. It’s very dangerous out there, and bombs could fall anywhere.” He added, “When we’re done, take control of your government. This may be your only chance for generations to come.”
He emphasized that Washington is offering what previous administrations have not. Additionally, he said, “You have been asking America for help for years, and now you have a president who will give you what you want.”
Towards an open confrontation
Trump emphasized that the United States supports the Iranian people with “great strength and tremendous destructive power,” urging Iranians to “take control of their own destiny.” This escalation comes at a time of growing fears that the region could slide into direct confrontation. The international community is closely watching the potential reactions and their political and military repercussions.
