Kuwait – The Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Saturday that the Kuwaiti Army engaged surface-to-air missiles detected in the country’s airspace, following established operational procedures, as part of efforts to protect national airspace and ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces explained that the air defense systems effectively engaged the missiles in accordance with the applicable rules of engagement, and affirmed that the security situation continues to be closely monitored.
Precautionary measures for passenger safety
In a related development, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the temporary closure of Kuwaiti airspace to aircraft and passengers due to the prevailing political and security situation in the region. The Directorate’s official spokesperson, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, stated that this decision is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crews and to protect operations at Kuwait International Airport from any potential risks.
Avoid being swayed by rumors
The General Staff called on all citizens and residents to obtain information from official sources and avoid being misled by rumors or unreliable news, in order to enhance community security and preserve national stability.
The statement concluded by noting that Kuwait, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, maintains its security and stability, while closely monitoring all security developments in the region to ensure the safety of its territory and citizens.
