Islamabad, Pakistan – A number of people were killed and others injured after a powerful explosion rocked a residential building in Pakistan. The blast left at least 27 people dead or injured, according to local media and emergency officials.
Gas leak suspected
Authorities reported that the explosion caused significant damage to the residential building, with parts of it partially collapsing. Rescue and fire crews rushed to the scene. They worked to extract victims from the rubble and transport the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials indicated that the initial investigation is focused on determining the cause of the explosion. Preliminary findings suggest a gas leak, but other possibilities have not been ruled out. The technical and forensic examinations are pending.
Growing concerns
Emergency teams confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing in case anyone remains trapped under the rubble. Authorities have cordoned off the site and are preventing access to ensure public safety and facilitate the work of rescue teams.
Similar incidents occur from time to time in some areas of Pakistan, often due to inadequate safety measures in older buildings or gas leaks. This raises growing concerns about safety standards and infrastructure in densely populated residential areas.
