Brussels, Belgium – Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley asserted that the Islamic Republic of Iran “will never agree to the demands of the United States,”
urging US President Donald Trump to seize the current opportunity and make it “a defining moment in his political legacy.”
In an interview with Fox News, Haley stated, “Either you have a second Obama
where you negotiate another nuclear deal and give them sanctions relief,
or you can be really strong and nip this in the bud so we never have to deal with it again.”
Haley stressed the need for Washington to stand firm on its demands, foremost among them ending uranium enrichment,
halting the ballistic missile program, and ceasing funding for Tehran’s allies in the region,
in addition to “liberating the Iranian people,” as she put it.
She added, “Iran will never agree to these things, and that’s why I think
the president should seize this moment and make it a defining moment in his legacy.”
For his part, the US president said in his latest remarks regarding the negotiations with Tehran:
“Many are against it, but I say I prefer to reach an agreement.
Of course, it has to be a good agreement—no nuclear weapons, no missiles, none of that.”
A week earlier, Haley had stated that “you can’t deal with a regime that lies
about its nuclear activities, oppresses its own people,
and spreads terror around the world,” referring to the Iranian authorities.
