Abu Dhabi, UAE – Khorfakkan defeated their host Al Dhafra 3-2 in the match held today at Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium, as part of the fifteenth round of the ADNOC Pro League.

The match saw four goals scored from the penalty spot, two for each team, making it the first encounter to witness this number of penalty goals in the ADNOC League since the Ajman vs. Kalba match in February 2022, during which five penalties were awarded.

Khorfakkan’s goals were scored by Ailton Felipe in the 5th minute, Tariq Tissoudali from a penalty kick in the 24th minute, and Laurence Do from a penalty kick in the 84th minute, while Al Dhafra’s goals were scored by Karim El Berkaoui from a penalty kick in the 36th minute, and Jobson Santos from a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

With that result, Khorfakkan raised its tally to 18 points in seventh place, while Al Dhafra’s tally remained at 16 points in ninth place.

The match was exciting throughout both halves, with penalty kicks establishing themselves as the most prominent feature of the encounter.

The first half started quickly for both teams, and Khorfakkan succeeded in opening the scoring early after a defensive error by an Al Dhafra player in passing the ball back to his goalkeeper, which Ailton Felipe exploited and scored the opening goal in the fifth minute.

Khorfakkan doubled their lead in the 24th minute through Tariq Tissoudali from a penalty kick, before Karim El Berkaoui reduced the deficit for Al Dhafra by scoring his team’s first goal from the penalty spot in the 36th minute, ending the first half with the visitors leading 2-1.

In the second half, Al Dhafra came back into the game again after equalizing in the 70th minute through Jobson Santos from a penalty kick.

With both teams exchanging attempts in the final minutes, a new penalty kick was awarded to Khorfakkan, which Laurence Doe successfully converted into the winning goal in the 84th minute, securing three valuable points for his team at the end of the match.
