Tel Aviv, Israel – Two Israeli officials told Reuters that Israel has no connection to the explosions that rocked Bandar Abbas in Iran,
amid escalating political and security tensions in the region.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, clarified that Israel was not behind the events that occurred in some Iranian areas in recent hours,
emphasizing that Tel Aviv has not participated in any operations targeting the Iranian interior at this time.
The officials did not provide further details regarding the nature or cause of the explosions,
and Israeli authorities have declined to issue an official statement on the matter.
unintentional accidents
Iranian media had previously reported explosions in various locations, amid conflicting reports about their causes,
ranging from accidental infrastructure incidents to gas explosions or technical malfunctions.
In this context, local Iranian reports indicated that some of the explosions may have been unintentional,
including a gas explosion in a residential building in Ahvaz, which resulted in fatalities and injuries.
mutual accusations
These developments come amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel over several regional and international issues,
including Iran’s nuclear program, military developments in the Middle East, and mutual accusations of cyberattacks and covert operations.
Any security incident within Iran often sparks speculation about possible Israeli involvement,
which Tel Aviv either denies or refrains from commenting on in most cases.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have yet to issue a comprehensive official statement regarding all the reported explosions,
offering only preliminary indications that investigations are still underway to determine the true causes and affirming
that they will announce the results as soon as they are completed.
