Brussels, Belgium – The European Union has announced a €63 million humanitarian aid package to support those affected by the escalating crisis in Myanmar. The package aims to alleviate the suffering of Rohingya refugees in neighboring countries. This move is a response to the urgent humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict and deteriorating living conditions.
The EU explained that the funding will be used to provide food, healthcare, shelter, and clean water. In addition, the funding will support emergency protection and education programs. The EU will focus on the most vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, both inside Myanmar and in refugee camps in neighboring countries.
Brussels emphasized that the aid will be delivered through trusted humanitarian partners to ensure its rapid and safe delivery to those in need. It also reiterated its commitment to continuing humanitarian support until a comprehensive political solution is reached that ends the crisis and guarantees the safe and dignified return of refugees.
