Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense systems successfully destroyed 13 Ukrainian drones in the past few hours as they attempted to penetrate Russian airspace over several regions.
In an official statement, the ministry confirmed that all the drones were shot down before reaching their targets, with no casualties reported. It also noted that the attack is part of repeated attempts to target Russian territory using unmanned aerial vehicles.
The statement added that air defense forces are fully prepared and are effectively responding to any aerial threats. This comes amid an escalation in the exchange of drone attacks between Moscow and Kyiv.
This development coincides with a significant escalation of the Ukrainian crisis on the ground. Furthermore, both sides have resorted to intensifying their use of drones as both a tool of military pressure and a means of sending political messages.
