Cairo, Egypt – FC Barcelona has finalized the signing of young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdel Karim, formerly of Al Ahly, on loan until the end of the season. The contract also includes an option to buy.
Walid Salah El-Din, the Al-Ahly football director, announced in a televised statement on Sunday evening that Hamza Abdel Karim had transferred to Barcelona. This occurred during the current transfer window.
According to the Spanish network Fichajes, Barcelona’s management has shown strong interest in signing the player. He would begin his career with the reserve team, with the aim of gradually developing him and promoting him to the first team in the future.
The report indicated that Abdelkarim is seen within the Catalan club as a future option to succeed Polish striker Robert Lewandowski in the center forward position.
Lewandowski is one of the most prominent strikers in La Liga this season, despite being 37 years old. He has scored 9 goals in 16 league matches, in addition to one goal in the Champions League.
