Washington, DC – Western media reports indicate a sharp escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran. There is growing speculation about an imminent US military strike against targets inside Iran. This comes amid ongoing internal protests and Tehran’s tightening of security measures.
The New York Times, citing US military officials, reported that the Pentagon has begun evacuating an unspecified number of non-essential personnel from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar due to heightened security risks. This move reflects potential preparations for a large-scale military scenario.
Qatar confirmed in an official statement that such measures are taking place in the context of escalating regional tensions. However, it did not provide further details about the nature of the US military movements.
These developments coincided with a post by US President Donald Trump on social media platforms, in which he addressed Iranian protesters directly, saying that “help is on the way.” Observers interpreted this as a political signal implying a possible imminent US intervention.
According to Pentagon sources, the options on President Trump’s table include military strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear program or ballistic missile sites. Other scenarios, described as “more likely,” include cyberattacks or targeting Iranian security forces accused of using lethal force against protesters.
In the same vein, Reuters quoted European officials as saying that US military intervention is now probable and could occur within the next 24 hours. They also warned that any strike could be met with a fierce Iranian response that would threaten regional stability.
Media reports indicated that Britain withdrew some of its personnel from an airbase in Qatar in anticipation of the repercussions of any US military action. Meanwhile, Israeli media reported intensive US aircraft activity near Iranian airspace, including fighter jets and KC-135R refueling aircraft. B-52 bombers also took off from Al Udeid Air Base.
These movements signal a highly sensitive phase in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran, amid international fears of the situation escalating into a wider regional conflict.
