Cairo, Egypt – A telephone call took place today, Saturday, between Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs. Also involved was Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. This call was within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation between the two brotherly countries on bilateral and regional issues of common interest.
During the call, the two ministers affirmed the depth and strength of the historical fraternal relations that bind Egypt and Jordan. They expressed their shared commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly economic and investment sectors. They aim to build upon existing coordination mechanisms to achieve the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.
The call addressed developments in the Gaza Strip. Both sides emphasized the need for full adherence to the ceasefire agreement and the implementation of all its provisions according to the plan of US President Donald Trump. They stressed the importance of ensuring the sufficient and sustained delivery of humanitarian aid. Additionally, they agreed on moving forward with the second phase of the agreement.
Technocratic and Reconstruction Committee
They also emphasized the importance of announcing the formation of a Palestinian technocratic committee to administer the Strip. Deploying an international stabilization force is crucial. They also highlighted creating the necessary conditions for early recovery and reconstruction.
And they affirmed the need to preserve the unity of Palestinian territory between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It is essential to link stabilization efforts to a clear political horizon that achieves a just and comprehensive peace. This should be based on the two-state solution.
The two ministers warned of the dangers of illegal Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank. They consider these actions to be undermining efforts to de-escalate tensions. They believe these actions threaten the prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
Developments in Syria and Lebanon
And the call also addressed developments in Syria and Lebanon. The ministers stressed the importance of achieving security and stability in Syria, respecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
They also emphasized the need to halt Israeli attacks on Lebanon and support its security, stability, sovereignty, and national institutions.
Both sides expressed their complete rejection of Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. They affirmed their support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
And they consider this a fundamental pillar for the stability of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region.
They also stressed their support for de-escalation efforts in Yemen. Supporting Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue is essential to achieve security and stability in the country. Their efforts aim to fulfill the aspirations of its people.
