Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine overnight. The forces used approximately 500 drones and 40 missiles against various cities and vital infrastructure.
Zelensky noted that the attacks targeted energy infrastructure and civilian facilities. This resulted in widespread power and water outages, leaving large parts of cities without basic services. He added that emergency teams and the Ukrainian military are working to restore control over the damage and minimize the impact of the attacks on the civilian population.
The Ukrainian president explained that the attacks are part of a Russian strategy aimed at pressuring the government and raising the cost of the conflict. He emphasized that his country will continue to defend its territory by all available means, while continuing to receive military and diplomatic support from its Western allies.
Security experts have warned that the intensity of the Russian attacks and drone strikes indicates a possible escalation in the coming days. They stressed that the continuation of this pattern of attacks increases humanitarian and economic risks and threatens the stability of Ukrainian cities.
Analysts also stressed the importance of international support, particularly in the areas of reconstruction and protection of vital infrastructure, to ensure Ukraine’s ability to withstand continued Russian military pressure.
