Amman, Jordan – Jordanian authorities have announced the implementation of a semester-based school fee system for non-Jordanian students enrolled in public schools. This fee will be 300 Jordanian dinars per semester. The decision will take effect in February 2026.
The decision comes as part of regulatory measures aimed at supporting the sustainability of the educational process. It also aims to alleviate the financial burden on the general budget. Furthermore, it seeks to improve the quality of educational services provided within public schools. This is particularly important given the increasing number of non-Jordanian students in recent years.
As announced, the new fees will be collected quarterly. These fees will not affect Jordanian students, as they apply only to non-Jordanian citizens. It has been confirmed that the relevant authorities are studying implementation mechanisms that take into account the humanitarian and social circumstances of certain groups.
Sources explained that the decision is part of a broader package of policies to restructure the education sector. This package aims to ensure a more equitable distribution of resources and to maintain the level of educational services provided to all students. The state will continue its commitment to providing basic education according to established standards.
The Jordanian Ministry of Education is expected to issue detailed instructions in the coming period clarifying the eligible categories, payment mechanisms, and any potential exceptions. This will pave the way for the official implementation of the decision at the start of the academic year scheduled for February 2026.
