Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, that four people, including three security personnel, were killed in an armed attack targeting a checkpoint in Kerman province in southeastern Iran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a statement issued by the public relations office of the Quds Force headquarters, confirmed a clash between gunmen and security forces on the Zahedan-Fahraj road. The clash resulted in the deaths of three police officers and one civilian.
The statement indicated that “security agencies and law enforcement bodies are following up on this matter.”
Initial reports indicate higher casualties and simultaneous clashes.
Earlier, the human rights website Hal-e Wesh reported that a clash occurred in the city of Fahraj in Kerman province on Tuesday morning. The website stated that “two members of the Ministry of Intelligence and two police officers” were killed, and “a number of officers” were wounded. The website also published a video that it said showed “the wounded and the bodies of the officers being transported” from the scene of the incident.
Another clash in Sistan and Baluchestan
Simultaneously with this attack, reports emerged of another armed clash in the neighboring province of Sistan and Baluchestan. The news website Hal-e-Wosh reported that several security officers were killed and wounded after three military vehicles were targeted by armed individuals in Iranshahr on Tuesday morning.
The organization reported, citing photos and videos, that military forces were deployed on the road leading to Zahedan. The road was closed, and vehicular traffic was prohibited, with no date given for its reopening.
So far, the identity and motives of the attackers in the Iranshahr incident remain unknown. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, and there has been no official response from Iranian security or military authorities.
