Tokyo, Japan – The Japanese government today categorically denied Chinese claims that Japanese Self-Defense Force fighter jets locked their radar systems onto Chinese military aircraft flying near Japanese airspace.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense emphasized that the movements of the Japanese aircraft were part of routine defensive missions to protect airspace. It also affirmed that its forces adhere to international rules of engagement and air safety standards to avoid any unintended incidents.
In response, Beijing accused Tokyo of “provocative behavior” by locking radar systems onto Chinese aircraft. China deemed this a direct threat to the safety of its pilots and demanded that Japan cease such actions.
This exchange of accusations comes amid escalating military tensions in the East China Sea, where the two countries have recently witnessed intensified air and naval activity.
