Tunis – Tunisian President Kais Saied summoned the European Union’s ambassador to Tunisia, Giuseppe Perrone,

to inform him of a formal protest against what he considered “

a lack of respect for diplomatic protocols.”

A statement issued by the Tunisian presidency on Wednesday

explained that Saied stressed during the meeting his rejection

For any communication that takes place outside of the established official frameworks,

This is in reference to the meeting between the European ambassador

and the Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union,

Noureddine Taboubi, last Monday.

The statement emphasized that the Tunisian presidency considers the move

a departure from diplomatic norms.

A demand to respect state institutions and to coordinate

with the relevant authorities in all matters related to official communications.
