Gaza, Palestine – Israel considers the Islamic Jihad movement’s delay in handing over the remains of one of the three remaining Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip to be a “further violation” of the recent ceasefire agreement.
A statement issued by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the delay was viewed with utmost seriousness, emphasizing that the immediate handover of the body was part of the humanitarian understandings between the two sides.
The Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, announced Monday evening that they had found the remains of one of the Israeli hostages. This announcement further escalates tensions following the recent ceasefire agreement.
These developments come at a sensitive time, as the Gaza Strip experiences increasing tension, amid international calls to respect humanitarian understandings.
