Kyiv, Ukraine – US sources have announced that Ukraine has accepted the general terms of the peace plan proposed by the United States to end the war with Russia, according to CNN. The US official confirmed that there are still “minor details” that need to be worked out. However, he emphasized that the Ukrainians have essentially accepted the peace agreement.
This comes as U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll visits Abu Dhabi to discuss the proposal with Russian officials. The move is aimed at accelerating a comprehensive agreement. Driscoll’s spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Tolbert, said talks between the U.S. and Russian delegations are “progressing well and we remain optimistic.”
Earlier, Ukrainian Interior Minister Rustam Umarov wrote on the X platform that the delegations had reached a common understanding on the basic terms of the agreement. This agreement was discussed in Geneva. He noted that Ukraine is now counting on the support of its European partners for the next steps. He added that Ukraine plans to organize a visit by President Volodymyr Zelensky to the United States to finalize the understanding with US President Donald Trump.
Zelensky said on X: “After the meetings in Geneva, we see many possibilities that could make the path to peace tangible. There are tangible results, but there is still a lot of work to be done.”
This announcement comes amid intensive international efforts to end the years-long conflict between Ukraine and Russia. All of this is taking place with close monitoring from the United States and European countries to support the settlement process.
