Cairo, Egypt – Counselor Ahmed Bendary, Director of the Executive Body of the National Elections Authority and Head of the Central Operations Room, confirmed that the Authority is closely monitoring the progress of the electoral process in the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections. This is taking place in all governorates to ensure the integrity and transparency of the voting.
Bandari explained that the commission received several reports from the monitoring room in Gharbia Governorate. Legal action was immediately taken. Security forces apprehended a group of individuals in possession of approximately 17,000 Egyptian pounds. It was suspected that the money was being used to mobilize voters to support independent candidates and one candidate affiliated with a political party. An administrative report was filed in Mahalla against the accused.
He noted that another violation was recorded at one of the polling stations, after a voter attempted to photograph his ballot. A formal report was filed regarding the incident, in accordance with established procedures.
National Authority: Official communication channels and immediate intervention
Bendary emphasized that the National Elections Authority has provided direct communication channels for all parties involved in the electoral process. These parties include observers, candidates, and voters. These channels allow for the immediate receipt and handling of complaints and inquiries. These measures enhance confidence in the transparency of the process.
He emphasized that the law allows any candidate or party involved in the elections to file a complaint through official legal channels. This can be done before the general committees, directly with the National Elections Authority, or by appealing to the Supreme Administrative Court. However, he noted that resorting to social media platforms is not a legal avenue for filing a grievance.
Warnings against attempts at distortion
The head of the operations room warned against campaigns aimed at undermining the integrity of the elections through certain websites and social media platforms. He emphasized that there are entities seeking to erode public trust in state institutions.
Full commitment to ensuring the will of the voters
Counselor Ahmed Bendary concluded by emphasizing the National Elections Authority’s commitment to safeguarding the true will of the voters at the ballot box, enabling them to freely and securely choose their representatives in Parliament.
