Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan’s defense minister issued a stark warning, asserting that the escalating tensions with India could pave the way for a new military confrontation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. He noted that the political and security climate in the region is experiencing unprecedented tension. This comes amidst an exchange of accusations and on-the-ground actions that raise fears of an uncontrolled escalation.
The minister explained that Islamabad is following “with grave concern” what he described as provocative movements along the Line of Control. He noted that the Pakistani army is on full alert. He affirmed that any threat to his country’s sovereignty will be met with a direct and decisive response.
He also called on the international community to act swiftly to prevent the situation from deteriorating further, stressing that South Asia cannot afford another race toward conflict, especially given that both sides possess nuclear arsenals, making any miscalculation irreversible.
This warning comes at a time when Pakistan and India are exchanging accusations regarding security and political breaches. Observers believe that the continued escalation is pushing the region to the brink of a crisis that could be the most serious in years.
