The government has issued a new guidebook entitled “Everyone is Responsible.” It includes a set of instructions and essential supplies to prepare for major crises or potential military confrontations. The guide advises every household to prepare an emergency kit sufficient for three days, which should include:
6 liters of water per person
Canned foods and essential medicines
Battery-operated radio and flashlight
Entertainment materials such as books and games
This guide is part of a comprehensive plan to prepare for various crises, including wars, natural disasters, and epidemics.
Political controversy within France
The army chief’s remarks sparked a wave of criticism from opposition parties. They accused the government of preparing public opinion for the possibility of war with Russia.
In response, the defense minister clarified that the general’s remarks had been taken out of context for political purposes. She emphasized that the true objective was to raise public awareness of defense and emergency plans, not to send young people to the battlefield.
Military preparations for 2030
French strategic reports indicate the need to prepare for a potential large-scale military intervention within Europe between 2027 and 2030. The documents also confirm that any Russian attack on a NATO member state would trigger a direct French response, in accordance with Article 5 of the Washington Treaty on collective defense.
