A massive explosion and subsequent fire rocked the Petrosedino oil project in eastern Venezuela on Wednesday, causing panic among workers and raising serious economic and environmental concerns.
The incident occurred in the heart of the vital Orinoco oil belt, where vast quantities of heavy crude oil are processed. This could directly impact the country’s export capacity and the stability of its energy production.
So far, neither PDVSA nor official authorities have released any confirmed information on injuries or the extent of the damage. Emergency teams are continuing their efforts to control the fire.
