Cairo, Egypt – Spain qualified for the 2026 World Cup finals after drawing 2-2 with Turkey in their match on Tuesday evening, in the final round of European qualifiers.
Spain met Türkiye at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, in the final round of the European qualifiers.
Dani Olmo opened the scoring for Spain in the fourth minute of the first half, after receiving a low cross from the left side inside the penalty area and shooting it powerfully into the Turkish net.
Turkey responded by equalizing in the 42nd minute, through Deniz Gul, after a powerful shot inside the penalty area that found the back of the net.
In the 54th minute, the Turkish team turned the tables and scored the second goal through Ozcan, before the Spanish team responded with an equalizer in the 62nd minute, through Mikel Oyarzabal, after a left-footed shot from inside the penalty area to the left of the goalkeeper.
With that result, Spain tops the group standings with 16 points, and thus qualifies for the 2026 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Türkiye’s national team remained in second place with 13 points.
