Finland – Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that European countries will eventually find themselves forced to negotiate directly with Russia. He believes this path “will happen sooner or later” given the complexities of the regional landscape and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Stubb explained that any move toward dialogue with Moscow must be managed through close coordination among European capitals. This is to avoid divergent positions or unilateral decisions that could weaken the collective stance. He also stressed that the continent must demonstrate greater resilience in the face of Russian pressure and hybrid attacks.
Speaking about the Ukrainian crisis, the Finnish president ruled out the possibility of a ceasefire in the near future, noting that the situation remains complex and that diplomatic solutions require time and a balanced political will from all sides.
